Time Management Tools

If you are a busy individual, do you find that you lose precious hours but cannot recall how or when? Are you often trying to juggle multiple plates simultaneously which can leave you feeling overwhelmed? If this describes you, ask yourself if you are working as efficiently and effectively as you can, or if you need to improve on your time management skills. If you decide that there is room for improvement, then there are some very useful free tools out there to help you regain control. I would like to draw your attention to two which I personally use and would recommend...

Trello
Trello is an incredibly useful time management tool if you like a visual plan to keep you motivated and on the right path. It can be used to manage projects, teams and personal tasks. With Trello, you can create as many to-do lists as you wish, but there is so much more to this app than a simple to-do list. Within each list you can create cards, similar to post-it notes, where you can add comments, checklists, attachments, colour-coded labels and due dates. You can even share, export and print your lists. The free version of this app allows you to add one 'power-up' tool from an extensive list. I opted for a calendar so that I can clearly see any due dates to further aid my work prioritisation.

Toggl
The second tool that I use is Toggl. Put simply, Toggl is a time tracking tool. It records the time spent on any given task using a stopwatch. You can create a team of users which enables individual members to record time spent on team projects/tasks. If you get into the habit of using Toggl each time you sit at the PC to do something, you will be able to clearly visualise where your time is being spent by reviewing your dashboard and making use of the free reports.

There are many more apps on the market, but Trello and Toggl are tools that work in harmony with each other. Providing you have the motivation and desire to improve your time management skills, you will not only see an increase in your productivity but you will feel better in yourself and ready to rise to any challenge set before you!
