Top Tips to Regain Control

We all lead busy lives, but for some, finding a work-home life balance can be a real struggle. Here are my top tips to help regain control of a chaotic life.

Plan Ahead
Planning for the following day in advance can save you time in the morning, especially if you are prone to pressing the 'snooze' button on your alarm too many times! Before you settle into bed, make a list of things that you must not forget to do tomorrow and lay out any items that you will need, including appropriate clothing. We have all wasted precious minutes searching for that much needed shirt or dress only to find that it's still in the dirty laundry. Lay the table ready for breakfast and prepare meals in advance where possible. These small steps can really help set you off on the right foot so that you are well equipped to deal with whatever life has in store on any given day.

Tidy your Home
Don't leave mess for tomorrow. Spend some time in the evenings washing the dishes and picking up any item that is not where it should be. Waking up to a tidy home can really lift your mood. You can go about your day knowing that you do not have to worry about getting on top of the housework when you return from a long day at work.

Relax and Reflect
When life is hectic, it can be difficult to see the wood from the trees. That's why it's important to fit a small window of relaxation into your daily schedule; some me-time to do the things that you enjoy. A great way of clearing your head before bed is to reflect on the day that is soon to become yesterday. Writing down your thoughts in a journal can be very therapeutic, as can keeping a jar of "positive moments". If you are particularly proud of something that you have accomplished or something has put a smile on your face, write it down with the date and pop it in a jar. Soon you will find that you have a jar full of great things to remind you that there is good in every day.
